The Crossroads

Each summer when I was young, I would spend several weeks with my grandmother, aunts and uncles in Powhatan Point, Ohio. My cousins and I would often walk down to "The Crossroads". It was a large ramshackle place which was basically a combination gas station/goody store at the intersection of Ohio State Routes 148 and 9. I don't exactly remember what actual treats we bought there. I'm sure it wasn't gasoline but it doesn't really matter. Of course, the intersection is still there, but the peeled-paint building that used to sit to the right in the photograph is long gone.

Of all the wonderful aunts, uncles and grandparents, I only have one aunt remaining. Even in loss, I'll always have every one of them in my heart - just as I will every person I've ever known and ever loved.
