Before the Sound of Winter

You said the best vacation spot imaginable was in the woods, water and hills of where we grew.

Of course the beach and ocean are grand, and yes, tall snow-capped peaks are rather glorious but knowing and seeing your contentment with the song of this place we call home, is the most wonderful discovery.

Gob piles of coal refuse, cow pastures, red-dog roads, oaks, walnuts and maples all bare themselves in the fall as green gives itself with purpose to the speckle of gray, pink, and brown.
