The Boxer

When folks tell me I'm so strong or that I am able to do things they couldn't ever do, I become lost. When my kids ask me for advice, I think: "Damn, this is hard, I don't know"

Sure I can get the stains out of a shirt, design and build a hip-roof, or fix an engine. And when my youngest girls were still at home, I even learned what sorts of foundation, blush and tampons to buy for them. But all that is simply boilerplate.

I do know that there often isn't a single answer that meets and satisfies all conditions and when it comes to knowing the best path of life, I am really just as helpless as anyone else. I just seem to fake it well in a CBT sort of way :)

In the clearing stands a boxer
And a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders
Of ev'ry glove that layed him down
Or cut him till he cried out
In his anger and his shame
"I am leaving, I am leaving"
But the fighter still remains
