Changing what doesn't change

I enjoy many of the folks I meet in my other "job", but so often I'm especially taken by the older ones. The cycle of life -- we start as children and pretty much end as children. When they are alone, it breaks my heart but when they are loved, it truly changes how they grow old. I can't even begin to explain how fortunate I am to be able to experience this.

The Little Boy and the Old Man

Said the little boy, "Sometimes I drop my spoon."
Said the little old man, "I do that too."
The little boy whispered, "I wet my pants."
"I do that too," laughed the little old man.
Said the little boy, "I often cry."
The old man nodded, "So do I."
"But worst of all," said the boy,"it seems
Grownups don't pay attention to me."
And he felt the warmth of a wrinkled old hand.
"I know what you mean," said the little old man.
