I was sitting on the counter at the uptown A&P enjoying a fresh glazed doughnut while my mom and dad chit-chatted with the store clerk. I may have been two or three.
Before my time, it was Ellis Wilson's Grocery (on the left):
This building at the corner, which housed the store and two other homes was torn down just a few years later and the Belmont County National Bank was then constructed on the site.
I don't remember what the exterior of the A&P looked like, but I clearly remember the counter and that doughnut.
