If I did your laundry

I wouldn't mix your red shirt
with pairs of your white socks
and with almost any stain
I am good at Shouting Out.
I'd fold everything carefully
(except for undies and socks
because they don't fold well)
and delicately hang each item
that deserved a plastic hanger.
I'm not very quick with an iron
but I'd give it my level best
That's what I would do.

I wonder if he ever realized that even after fifty years, I still would consider it one of the best days of my life.
