Cutting In

I've been working on the exterior block foundation of the house -- patching, repointing, pressure washing, caulking and painting. It isn't a critical project but it is fun so I take an inordinate amount of time and care, especially in trimming with the paint brush. I know I could use a roller and whip through this much faster but it really isn't the completion that matters much. I always seem to like imagining how the project might progress or sometimes I'll stare at what I've done and it reminds me of just how short a lifetime is. My dad used to wear those paper, beer-themed painter's hats in the summer when he painted and trimmed at the school. He was young and skilled at "cutting in" and never used masking tape.
